3. Construction Steps

3.1 Subgrade Preparation

✔ Compact subgrade to 95% Proctor density
✔ Remove sharp objects (>3mm stones, roots)
✔ Grade to design slope (typically 1–2% cross slope)

3.2 Geotextile Deployment

  1. Unroll parallel to centerline (minimize transverse seams)

  2. Overlap seams:

    • Longitudinal: 300–600mm

    • Transverse: 1000–1500mm

  3. Anchoring:

    • Use U-pins (every 1–2m) on slopes

    • Trench edges at pavement boundaries

3.3 Aggregate Placement

  • First lift thickness: ≤150mm (protects geotextile)

  • Compaction: Vibratory roller (3–5 passes)

    • Direct equipment traffic on exposed geotextile
