3. Construction Steps

3.1 Site Preparation

✔ Remove topsoil (if soft or organic)
✔ Grade & compact subgrade (95% Proctor density)
✔ Ensure 1–2% cross slope for drainage

3.2 Geocell Installation

1. Unroll & expand geocells along the road path

2. Anchor edges (300mm trench or U-pins @ 1m spacing)

3. Connect panels (thermal welding or mechanical clips)

3.3 Fill Placement & Compaction

• Layer thickness: 150mm per lift

• Compaction method: Vibratory roller (3–5 passes)

• Target density: 92–95% (ASTM D698)

3.4 Surface Finishing

• Top layer: 50mm fine gravel (for smoother driving)

• Drainage: Crowned surface + side ditches
